50 podcasts baby. And what a way to bring this in, with some fresh Melbourne talent, courtesy of young gun Spargo.
The mix is smokin' hot. Expect some rhythmic house, dance, techno, and some gorgeous lyrics weaved in masterfully. What a joy to listen too.
Spargo, thank you for creating this mix for the Arteq family. We'll be seeing you at an Arteq event in the near future, lifting the roof off.
More from Arteq and Spargo below.
Who is Spargo? Spargo is a mid 20s up and coming Melb DJ not set to a particular genre and looking to constantly evolve and develop his sound.
What direction did you take on the podcast? I'm always trying to progress and try new sounds and this mix is no different, playing a range of tracks I'd never played before with a more electro housey vibe with a bunch of lyrical tracks in there that kept the energy building throughout the mix. I had a lot of fun with this one playing a new sort of sound unlike what I have delved into before.
When and why did you start DJ'ing? The When is about 5 years ago. I bought a set of 2000s and a 900 Nexus mixer just so I could throw a couple tracks in at party's and I caught the bug and haven't stopped using them since. Why do I DJ? Because music brings everyone together! I've always been big on digging out hidden gems of tracks combining that with the genuine love for all things music, and using music as my creative outlet, it allows me to escape the everyday struggles that work and life may leave on me. Also I'm able to express myself in ways I wouldn't be able to otherwise.
What has been your favourite DJ set & why? My fav set witnessed would probably have to be Township Rebellion closing Strawberry Fields 2018. My fav set I've played probably would be at the over & out day party I helped organised where it was great to see everything go so well after all the planning that went into place and the fact all my good mates were there.
What are you most looking forward to in 2022? Just looking forward to having more good times and meeting more great people.
Any upcoming gigs or anything exciting coming up for you? Yessss! On Sunday the 10th July I'm supporting the likes of Made in Paris and Gumm at Electric on Chapel Street. A massive opportunity for me that I'm super keen for thanks to the Novel and the Breakfast Club crews!
There’s 10 minutes left before the world self-destructs, what song do you put on? 10 mins left I got time for 2 tracks. Christopher Cross - Ride Like The Wind and Empire Of The Sun - Walking On A Dream
