Long time friend and multi-creative talent SPINDR, aka Ollie-Ollis McDonald, joins the den for the 59th Arteq podcast, with a seriously steaming breaks and techno mix.
SPINDR has a long history in music, singing for young band Andromedia, with similarities to Radiohead vocalist Thom Yorke. Ollie is a super talent, with a raw edge. He has delivered with this mix of slick techno cuts.
Thank you for this mix Ollie. Turn it up fam!
More from Arteq and SPINDR below.
What direction did you take on the podcast?
Mainly high bpm techno with a little break-beat throughout.
Why did you decide to go this way?
I like my mixes to have a certain element of improvisation. I don't go into playing a mix with the exact tracks I have in mind, more just how I'm feeling in the moment which might change at times during the set.
What did you use to record this mix?
2 x CDJ 350's, 1x DJM 350, 2 x Technics 1200's.
What drives you to DJ?
I love curating music that brings me joy and sharing it with people. Performing is an amazing rush of adrenaline. It's such a good feeling.
What is the favourite gig you have played and why?
I'm working on my own music production's so hopefully releasing those in more of a professional capacity.
What’s in the pipeline for the rest of 2023?
Having finished my degree, making music and DJing, living overseas.
There’s 10 minutes left before the world self destructs, what song do you put on?
Terry Callier - I'm A Drifter.
Is there anything on your mind that you would like to say?
Thanks for having me! :-)
